2019 Estate Syrah
While the Willamette Valley is mostly famed for its Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, there are small pockets that produce exquisite cool climate Syrah. One such site, exposed on the steepest, south facing part of our Estate our Syrah thrives to produce a distinctive wine with complex fragrances and a bright structure. The 2019 vintage started with a normal spring creating the perfect conditions for an early start. Warmer conditions and a wet spring lead to smaller berries, creating a greater depth of concentration. Thanks to our location at the mouth of the Van Duzer Corridor receiving oceanic influence of wind gusts from the Pacific Ocean, we had an optimum balance between mild and warmer dry weather.
This wine shows perfumed notes of dark fruits ranging from dried cherry, black currant and strawberry lace around scents of nutmeg, allspice, and white pepper. On the palate this wine showcases beautiful notes of strawberry, blackberry, and black currant, rounded out with notes of vanilla, white pepper, and lingering silky tannins.
