2020 Homestead Block Pinot Noir
Estate grown on own-rooted and nearly 40-year old Pommard clone, the Homestead Block is one of the gems of our property. Our 2020 Homestead Pinot Noir displays bright red cherry, hibiscus flower, and strawberry aromatics that are intertwined with layers of caramel and toast from the
oak. There is a subtle savory note of cedar that provides a counterpoint for the sweeter fruits. The mouthfeel is initially round, but quickly followed by juicy acidity and tannins that have a medium length and a long, yet delicate, finish.
While we're used to all kinds of weather here in Oregon, 2020 was a year for the books. A nearly ideal growing season with lower yields meant that the wines of 2020 were poised ot be concentrated, complex and world class. Right at harvest time, devastating wildfires swept the valley. However, thanks to the famous winds of our namesake Van Duzer Corridor, the smoke blew off before affecting the grapes and we were able to make incredibly delicious wines that we can't wait to share with you. If you've wondered about the 2020 harvest and hesitated, we encourage you to try our 2020 vintage -- and especially our 2020 Homestead Block Pinot Noir. We think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
