2012 KALITA VINEYARD PINOT NOIR
Nestled in the Yamhill-Carlton AVA, Kalita Vineyard was planted in 2000 and sits at an elevation of 650 feet. Thanks to the relatively high elevation, the wines tend to retain bright fruity aromas well balanced by acidity.
This powerful Pinot Noir displays bright red fruit on the nose including ripe strawberries, dark cherries and cooked plumb. Barrel aging contributes spices ranging from peppercorn and nutmeg to hints of bacon and butterscotch. On the palate a delightful attack transitions into a masculine mid palate showcasing power and tension. A fine emery paper texture on the mid palate recesses and leads to a cherry kirsch flavored finish with notes of cola.
