After shutting down the tasting room for the day, you might find a member or two of our closely-knit staff sitting outside enjoying the extra sunshine, observing “first bloom”, and enjoying a pour of one of their favorite wines. Bright yellows from canola plantings and white fields of meadowfoam accentuate our beautiful surroundings and give us plenty of reason to “work late”. With full-bloom spring in mind, we have put together a three pack of the wines you might find in our glasses.

Warm weather and the excitement of putting grey, rainy days behind us frequently puts the 2017 Estate Pinot Gris in the glass. A one-two punch of Pinot Gris clones coupled with a focused and strict fermentation give this wine a vibrant, floral component that is balanced with minerality and a soft, subtle creaminess. An aromatic bouquet highlights white peach and Asian pear characteristics that lead into tropical mango and pineapple characteristics accented by lemon grass, orange blossom and jasmine flower. A second sip transitions from citrus-driven characteristics into flinty notes intertwined with fragrances of freshly cracked hazelnuts. This wine is the perfect patio-sipper.


The Dijon Blocks blend always proves to be an exciting composition from our winemaker, Florent Merlier. The assortment of Dijon clones on our property allow “Flo” to open the spice rack and masterfully craft a balanced, and nuanced Pinot Noir blend. The earliest showings of the 2016 vintage highlight fruit ripeness and structure. In the 2016 Dijon Blocks Pinot Noir, each clone, the fermentation program, and 15 months spent in 45% new French oak harmonize to create a delicately complex wine. On the nose, scents of dark cherry, juicy strawberry, and cranberry dance with undertones of lilac and fresh violets.  Sage and star anise lift barrel-driven notes of vanilla, licorice, and cedar. The mouthwatering fruit transitions to a creamy mid-palate opening up a lengthy soft and silky finish of cherry cola and cedar. Whether on its own, or with lighter fish or poultry dishes, the Dijon Blocks Pinot hits several notes for us.


Our Sorcery Cabernet Sauvignon program offers evidence of the old saying, “great winemakers make great wine”. The 4-acre Thoma Family Vineyard sitting on a north facing slope in the northern boundary of the Rutherford appellation in Napa Valley gives us a chance to step away from the nuance and difficulty of Pinot Noir production and allow guests to taste an Oregonian approach to Napa’s prized varietal. The 2014 Sorcery Cabernet boasts deep, dark garnet hues that surprisingly open to a bouquet of blueberry, blackberry and fresh black currant. Secondary notes of licorice, clove and tobacco highlight the wines time spent in 50% new French oak. A juicy, lifted palate is underscored by a precise, yet subtle acid driven structure that preserves the wines fresh character. Silky yet firm tannins shape finishing notes of chocolate and mint. Sorcery serves as an amazing summer Cabernet and can be the perfect wine for upcoming grilling sessions.
