2012 SAFFRON FIELDS PINOT NOIR
Saffron Fields Vineyard, located in the Yamhill-Carlton AVA, sits atop renowned Willakenzie soils. The site's microclimate is consistently very warm, which tends to produce exceptionally ripe fruit. Wines originating from this vineyard are renown for their dark red fruit notes and massive presence.
On the nose this racy Pinot Noir displays dark cherries, ripe strawberries and cooked plum. Interlacing those primal fruity aromas are hints of peppercorn, licorice and nutmeg while layers of lavender and absinthe swing with resinous vanilla scents. The attack displays a delightful sweetness that moves toward a bright and silky mid palate. The wine finishes with length and savory notes of cola, candied cherry and roasted almonds.
